How to dress the Christmas table

Let Yvonne talk you through how to create the perfect tablescape this Christmas.
If your house is anything like mine, then the centrepiece of Christmas is always the dining table. It’s a place where family and friends come together to eat, drink and generally be merry!
That means you’ve got to show your table a bit of love if you’re hosting Christmas dinner or a festive soiree this year. With a fantastic Christmas tablescape, you can easily create a real wow factor in your home.
Once the prezzies are wrapped and the turkey’s prepared it’s time to set your sights on Christmas tablescaping. So, whether it’s a festive drinks party or the big day itself, make sure your table looks pretty as a picture. Read on for some of my top tips (hate that phrase but couldn’t think of a better way to put it!) for making your table look extra gorgeous this year.

Layer Up

No, I don’t mean ask your guests to wear an extra layer so you don’t have to put the heating on! I say the more the merrier when it comes to placemats, chargers and plates. I think these additional layers give a more luxurious feel to the table.
Go mix and matchy with these to create a quirky look. Obvs my table is always pastel-themed!

Knot Your Napkins

This is one of my all time fav’ ways to display napkins. Not only do they look super chic, the knot also provides a handy spot for your to place your cutlery.
While we’re on the subject of cutlery, I love gold cutlery, especially at Christmas.

Add a Runner

No Christmas table is complete without a decorative runner to give it the wow factor. I like to use a mixture of foliage (either sourced from near my house or faux) and fairy lights.
I also like to spray my leaves and foliage white. This gives it a frosty look and gives the table a softer overall vibe.

Add Some Candles

You can never have too many candles in my opinion! I don’t think a table is ever complete without multiple candles on it really is it?! Of course, just be careful where you’re popping your candles, you don’t want anything dangling over them!

Add Baubles

They’re not just for hanging on the Christmas tree. Add baubles to your table for a quirky, festive feel. Use various sizes, colours and textures to add interest and create a more natural vibe.
And most importantly of all…pour yourself an ice gold glass of champers and sit back to enjoy all of your hard work!
I’d love to see how you use your Yvonne Ellen pieces to decorate your Christmas table.
