This guide has everything you need to make the most of the bank holiday weekend and throw the ultimate boozy tea party!
Creating a Table Fit for a King
First Up! Creating a table fit for a King! I think this is the most important part, the setting for your tea party must feel royal, cute and most of all include the Best of British!! Now is the time to dust off your finest bone china tea set and lay the table for royalty. I have chosen my fave teacup and saucers with gilt gold detailing, layered sandwich and cake plates and added a cute cake fork for each place setting! Don’t forget lots of serving platters for all your delish scones and finger sandwiches. To truly channel the Yvonne Ellen style - save some space for hanging bunting, Union Jack flags and an ice bucket of your fave champers!
To personalise my place settings, I’ve added my fave royals as guests! I simply printed out a pic Harry, Meghan, Prince William, and Kate and popped them in a teacup and saucer.
P.S. who reckons Haz & Wills would actually sit & sip tea together though?! AWKIES!
Royal Munchies
Have you heard of the Coronation Quiche? From Coronation chicken to platinum pudding, royal occasions demand a signature dish and King Charles III’s coronation is no exception! The “coronation quiche” was personally chosen by the king and Camilla, the Queen Consort, using UK grown produce, this will be a big hit at tea parties all over England on the 6th May.
Although I do not pride myself as a good cook, I had to give this a go!! Following the Royal Families recipe and grabbing my best cookware, the Coronation Quiche was super easy to make! (even if I did use premade pastry😜) I believe anything can look good served in pastel dishes with a cute cake slice to go alongside, your guests are bound to be WOW-ed!!
If you’re not a quiche-lover; finger sandwiches, scones, and a classic Victoria sponge cake always accompany a cup of tea perfectly!!
Coronation Cocktails Anyone?
The drinks you serve at your King’s Coronation tea party are just as important as the crown itself. Let's face it, you can't go wrong with a classic champers - after all, nothing says cheers to the King like popping a bottle of bubbly. But why not throw in a few playful signature cocktails to really get the party started? May we suggest "The Royal Refresher" - a refreshing blend of cucumber, mint, and gin fit for a king? Or perhaps "The Crown Jewel" - a regal mix of vodka, pomegranate juice, and a generous splash of sparkling water.
To add a bit of pizzazz to your tea party tipple, how about adding a King Charles face to your glass (LOL). Whether you’re serving in your fave boozy teacup or a gilt gold glass, make a royal stand with a Union Jack flag or an edible King Charles III. These are sure to be a crowd pleaser!! I’M OBSESSED!
Tea Party Tunes
A must in my house for any party is music, and a fancy tea party for the King’s Coronation is no different! Creating a Spotify playlist is my favourite way to make sure I’ve got the right tunes for the day with no stress. You can tailor your playlist completely to your taste and make sure it fits your vibe. Whether you’re a classical listener or more of a Queen Bee fan. This is a must for a fun tea party!
