SHOOTING AT HOME…
I have recently started doing quite a lot of photoshoots in my own home – it seems to be working really well as it allows me to show off exactly how my products can be styled for various ‘at home’ events and occasions. I usually take charge of the styling side of things myself and then have my fabulous photographer Lauren come over to take care of the most important bit – getting the ‘money shots’!
STUDIO SHOOTS…
Sometimes you just gotta let the professionals take over! From styling to lighting to shooting – some products need to be taken care of completely by the pros, and bedding is one of them. This particular shoot – for my kids bedding- took place in a huge warehouse in Manchester, and inside they had built loads of different room sets complete with daylight lighting and windows so they really did look like real bedrooms.
BACK IN THE DAY vs NOW...
I feel it’s worth sharing that up until about 1 year ago I was the one taking all the product pics (with absolutely zilcho photography skills!)
Investing in some serious photography has been a big step for me and this little biz’ of mine but one I reckon has been one of my bestest decisions yet. I’d probably say that the photography of my products is one of the most important aspects of my business. (pictured – me 8 months pregnant with Sidney shooting a cake stand in my spare room!)
Although the shoots involve a lot of work (and ironing!), I really do enjoy them and when the final shots land in my inbox it is always such an amazing feeling to see my designs beautifully captured and ready to share with you guys : )
Here’s to many more shoots of many more new product ranges I say! Watch this space…
